The 7th EMIG Business development meeting took place on the 29th September at Weston Manor in Oxfordshire, chaired by Andrew Dean of Present Value.
Record attendance at this meeting with interesting new delegates and companies.

Leslie Galloway introduced Dr Alexander Natz, the secretary general of EUCOPE, European Confederation of Pharmaceutical Entrepreneurs. Dr Natz outlined how the EMIG BD group could engage with EUCOPE and more widely the Bundesverband der Pharmazeutischen Industrie.
Jim Keeling of Corbett Keeling gave his now regular update on the state of play in growth finance. In true ebullient style Jim’s take on it was likened to a dramatic event involving sharks or dolphins off the coast of South Africa.
Andrew Dean of Present Value gave a quick précis of the IPLS in Barcelona and talked through some of the more interesting presentations. (These are available for download)
Leslie Galloway hosted an open Q&A on VBP and his latest government interactions.
Finally Dan Thomas rounded off the day showcasing the successful development of Alliance Pharma and its future direction. (We’d like to thank Dan for stepping in as Genus could not make the meeting at the last minute).

The 4th EMIG business development meeting took place at Weston Manor in Oxfordshire.
Speciality Pharma was well represented once again with eyebrow raising presentations from Guy Clark: Goldshield, Andrew Trouton: Hampton Pharmaceuticals and David Davies: Futura Medical.
Richard de Pass the CEO of Evaluate Pharma gave a very interesting insight into the power of their business analysis tools and Phil Holt from Qualoria introduced their novel online partnering system.
We all need to look again at the c word and Compliance in Practice's director Ian Hale updated the group with details of the pending Bribery act and the 2011 ABPI code of practice.
Triducive ended the session with a crisp update from Tim Warren on how we should be marketing to the the NHS in these changing times.
The day was chaired by Andrew Dean of Present Value
The evening was, as always, an opportunity to network and discuss matters of the day over good food and a particularly fine Barbera d'Asti.
Leslie Galloway and I will be formulating the 2011 agenda very soon and encourage any comments or suggestions on the future direction of this increasingly popular group.
Ratings for the meeting were all positive, 100% of the delegates saw value in continuing this format, 71% rated the content useful and there was overall agreement the venue was right for this type of meeting.
Present Value took on board comments about the content and is arranging quite an array of companies to present their credentials and in/out licensing opportunities. Corporate finance and private equity will also be featuring in the forthcoming meetings.
